In the fall of 2001 founder Ginny Kerwin held the first meeting of Voca Lyrica in her Big Rapids home. Her vision was to provide for the talented women in our community an opportunity to experience the joy of creating artistic beauty through singing. Throughout these 25 years, Voca Lyrica has performed not only at concerts and events in Big Rapids, Michigan, but also throughout the United States–including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, the National Cathedral in Washington DC, and around the globe. In celebration of our 25th anniversary, this holiday concert will feature our favorite songs and our dearest memories, with the theme “Somewhere in my Memory.” Come join us on Saturday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the Big Rapids High School auditorium, where we’ll showcase our most loved holiday music.
Voca Lyrica traditionally presents two home concerts each year: a spring concert in June and a holiday concert in
December. Please check back here a month before each concert for more information. We look forward to seeing you!
Music, smiles, and memories always fill the air at our Cabaret fundraisers. Voca Lyrica members and other local talent put on skits, sing familiar melodies, and showcase physical comedy. These events feature entertainment, dinner, a cash bar, and a silent auction with past items ranging from a evening at the Grand Rapids Symphony, an overnight stay at the Traverse City Villa, pieces from local artists, spa gift certificates, and wine selections. The proceeds of ticket sales and the silent auction fund both our operational and concert costs in support of our mission for musical excellence through performance and outreach. Stay tuned for our next Cabaret in 2026!
